SWITZERLAND OVERVIEW

Switzerland - also known as Confoederatio Helvetica, explaining the CH country abbreviation - is home to both natural and manmade wonders, including stunning Switzerland luxury homes.

The county has long been known as an important financial center and is one of the richest countries in the world. Its stable, modern economy is surely attractive to the several multinational corporations and international organizations that call the country home. There is also, of course, the world famous private banking renowned for its levels of secrecy and service.

Also appealing is the stunning natural beauty of Switzerland. The small country has a varied topography with the Swiss Alps comprising 60-percent of its total area. Tourism has altered the mountainous landscape somewhat, but modernization smartly comingles with the natural environment. With a myriad of nearby outdoor activities coupled with a thriving economy, it is not surprising that both Zurich and Geneva, two of Switzerland's largest cities, consistently rank at or near the top in lists of places with the highest quality of life.

In the southern part of the country near the border with Italy lies Lugano, where Lake Lugano and the surrounding mountains provide adventures for all times of year. The picturesque city has drawn an increasing number of celebrities, earning it the nickname "The Monte Carlo of Switzerland." Celebrities and all residents or potential residents can choose from Lugano luxury homes ranging from modern hillside villas with panoramic views over the lake and foothills, to restored historic homes dating back centuries and new construction luxury apartments.

Northwest of Lugano on the tip of Lake Maggiore is Locarno, which boasts the mildest climate in the country and 2,300 hours of sunshine each year. Here visitors and residents gather in Piazza Grande for outdoor concerts or the popular Locarno International Film Festival which takes place each August. Locarno luxury homes take advantage of the ideal climate, with hilltop retreats inviting the sun inside and lakefront luxury apartments positioned to enjoy all the city has to offer.

Even if your standards are as exacting as a Swiss watch, you are sure to find a luxury home and lifestyle that you desire in Switzerland.
